US Environmental Protection Agency is holding a public meeting on the Crown Vantage and Curtis Paper Superfund Sites

The US Environmental Protection Agency is holding a public meeting on the Crown Vantage and Curtis Paper Superfund Sites on Monday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at the Milford Fire House.

EPA representatives will discuss progress on the cleanups of the Crown Vantage (Alexandria Township) and Curtis Paper (Milford) sites. Both are located on the Delaware River, just north of Frenchtown.

Work has gone on for years, and the Crown Vantage Landfill Superfund site is in the final phase of design and remedial action. The Curtis Specialty Papers Superfund site is not as far along.

According to Bill Wolfe who has been monitoring the situation, an important immediate concern may be to remove any contamination and stabilize the erosion of the stream bank. Bill says that sediments are contaminated and moving off site into the Delaware River.
