At the March 4 Borough Council meeting, 7:30 p.m. at Borough Hall, Council
will hear from the Milford-Holland Rescue Squad regarding the Borough’s
2015 funding obligation to the squad and from the Frenchtown Business and
Professional Association regarding the organization’s plans for 2015.
Also on the agenda are motions to hire a temporary part time secretary for
the police department (after the departure of the full time secretary in
February), a part-time police officer (to replace another part time
officer) and a temporary, part time employee for the Department of Public
Works who has been helping out during recent snow storms (we lost a part
timer in the DPW as well.)
Council will discuss a proposal by the County Department of Health to cover
the borough’s animal control responsibilities for 2015 and a request by the
Frenchtown Elementary School Board of Education to park two construction
materials storage trailers in the parking lot of Old Frenchtown Field
during the late spring and early summer while a construction project is
under way at the school. Council will also hear a report from the Planning
Board Engineer regarding a request by a property owner on Jackson Street to
build a house on the lot.
Council will hear updates on 1) a discussion with the county to swap
responsibilities for maintenance of the County portion of Harrison Street (6
th – 12th Streets) for Milford Road, 2) a proposal to install a sanitary
sewer and other improvements, including paving, to Hilltop, Chestnut and
Maple, 3) the sewer plant, 4) the proposed sewer rent plan, 5) the food
waste recycling proposal, and 6) the hiring of a fire prevention official.
