Hello Frenchtown!

Thanks to the Frenchtown Fire Department, the “rink” in Borough Park is filled and freezing. There is a liner under all that ice this year so, with luck, we’ll have a longer stretch of skating this winter than last.

The liner was set in place on Monday and partly filled ahead of the snow storm. Another four inches or so of water was added yesterday (Wednesday) after the fire fighters scraped the surface clear of snow.

Please give the ice one more day to solidify completely, but feel free to start skating on it Friday afternoon after school lets out.

We’ll have an “official” launch of the season on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. with a family night skate and bonfire. If anyone wants to bring extra pairs of skates that might help those without join in the fun. I’ll bring some hot chocolate and marshmallows, you bring the family (and your own cups so we don’t create trash.)

Above all, let’s look out for one another, have fun and stay safe.

Hope to see you Saturday night on the ice, if not before.
