This historic river town will once again drape itself in blue, white and red on Saturday, July 12th to celebrate Bastille Day – with a Frenchtown flare! This year’s theme for the 16th Annual Bastille Day Fete will be Hats Off to Bastille Day! Wear your favorite hat and join in the fun!

There will be live music around town with an eclectic mix of area favorites including El Bandito, Mother’s Recovery, Hot 4 Robot and Barry Peterson. Shops and galleries will be featuring special sales, activities, food, raffles and much more. Madame DeFarge will be knitting away at The Spinnery and Yellow Dog Pet Supply will be serving frozen treats to our furry friends and B. Mila will be hosting a trunk show by European Designer, Katty Xiomara.

Families can enjoy the River Union Stage puppet show at the Book Garden, a treasure hunt around town and face painting in front of Sunbeam Toys. Bastille Day certainly wouldn’t be the same without the Stilt Walker and Mime entertaining visitors. Plein air artists will be found around the corner and along the river capturing the beauty and unique vistas of Frenchtown. You might even run into Madame Defarge or Marie Antoinette at the Pirate Cupcake Truck.

Festivities will culminate with the “Movie Under the Stars” featuring Ratatouille (2007) – a favorite with kids and kids at heart – sponsored by Thistle and River Union Stage. The movie will be shown at 9pm on the lawn at Frenchtown’s Borough Park on Route 12 and Creek Road. Moviegoers should bring seating and come early to picnic.

Frenchtown was named after a wealthy French-speaking immigrant who purchased the land in 1794. Henri Mallet-Prevost was a Swiss fugitive of the French Revolution who ran to New Jersey to escape the guillotine. Since Prevost and other early settlers were French speaking, other locals began referring to the area as “French’s Town.”

The Bastille Day Fete will be on Saturday, July 12th from noon until night and is organized by the Frenchtown Business and Professional Association. The FBPA would like to thank its generous event sponsors for supporting all of its community events: CenturyLink, Stem Brothers, Opdyke Lumber, Shoenberger Insurance and Bucks County Magazine!
