On April 18, Borough Council approved the introduction of the proposed 2012 municipal budget. The budget sets forth the sources of funding for the year, including the proposed tax levy, as well as the governing body’s plan for how that money is to be spent.
There have been a number of discussions about the budget at recent Borough Council meetings. If you were unable to attend, I encourage you to read the minutes from the March 7, March 21 and April 4 meetings to learn more about the factors that led to the spending decisions we have made.
A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for May 16, at which time the public may bring to Council any concerns or questions. I urge you to do so. Council will vote on a resolution to adopt the spending plan that night. Of course, you may email questions and concerns about the budget to me directly or to Borough Council members directly or through Borough Clerk Brenda Shepherd.
